2021 MUSIC SENIORS PIC

Vocalist / Guitarist / Pianist / Songwriter

SENIOR & HEALTHCARE

Always comfortable with the elderly and medical settings, I volunteered as an assistant to a geriatric occupational therapist during high school.  My college studies were primarily focused in occupational therapy, psychology, and art - but music won as my life choice.  Once I stopped taking my music all over the country, I started performing in senior and healthcare facilities.  Now close to 20 years later, I am right at home in the environment.  Not only does it bring joy and the "show" to them, it makes me joyful too!

Here's how I do it...

  • My repertoire includes popular music from many decades, eras, and genres and I often create theme sets for fun
  • With vast material, I do not have to repeat the same music set in any given facility in a year (or more) of dates
  • Let me sing and use your piano (working / tuned) or my guitar at a senior community cost savings
  • We can schedule frequent (up to twice a month) dates or on an as-needed basis
  • Usually my audience is small enough to remain acoustic, but I'll set up a small PA system when necessary
  • If I am sick, I will reschedule.   Communicable illnesses in your community?  Keep me informed when it's safe to return
  • Invioces are sent on the 1st of performance month (with exceptions) and I gladly supply W-9s to my clients on request

I serve independent folks, assisted living, memory care, rehab, family care homes, private homes, and others!

More about the music:  My repertoire includes a variety of songs from different eras (as far back as the American Revolution and some contemporary).  I cover a variety of pop genres including Jazz Standards, Blues, Country, Country Rock/Crossover, Rock N Roll/Oldies, Easy Listening/Adult Contemporary, Folk, Pop, and Broadway.   Also a songwriter, occasionally I may toss in an original song.  Always adding new material, here is only a small sampling of cover music you might hear:

I love movies and musicals!  You'll hear some of these...

Allegro | Annie | Annie Get Your Gun | Brigadoon | Bye Bye Birdie | Camelot | Carousel | Fiddler on the Roof | Guys and Dolls | Hello Dolly! | My Fair Lady | Music Man | Oklahoma | Phantom of the Opera | Showboat | South Pacific | State Fair | The King and I | The Scarlet Pimpernel | The Sound of Music | West Side Story |

Many times I perform in themes.   Here are some 1-hour themes that I have arranged.  Give me some notice, and I will prepare your favorite theme too:

  • "America, Going Places": A trip around the USA from "Moonlight in Vermont" to "California, Here I Come" and back again via "Take Me Home, Country Roads"  (Nothing Could be Finer than to be in Carolina......)
  • "Exceptional Women In Music" A presentation about 5 extraordinary women performers, their impact in music, and general community.  Features Ella Fitzgerald, Doris Day, Julie Andrews, Barbra Streisand, and Carole King...
  • "Put On A Happy Face": Music that makes you "Smile", "Sing A Song", until "Happy Days are Here Again", and you're "Feeling Groovy"!
  • "Famous Songs by Famous Crooners":  A musical journey of music sung by Rudy Vallee to the Rat Pack.
  • "Around the World in 80 Minutes":  Let's travel to some different countries and sing songs about them and with them.  Right now, the tour starts in Ireland, with stops in England, France, Austria, Holland, Israel, and Mexico.  Some of the songs are presented in the language of the country... (Time can be adjusted from 60 to 90 minutes).
  • "As Time Goes By" (Set One - From Moments to Infinity): A variety of songs that mention increments of time - from "It Only Takes A Moment" (Hello, Dolly) to the "Twelfth of Never" (as sung by Johnny Mathis)..."As Time Goes By"
  • "As Time Goes By" (Set Two - Through the Seasons) Songs for each season of the year with some surprises along the way!  Winter Scenes: like "Somewhere My Love" (aka Lara's Them from "Dr Zhivago"), The First Bird of Spring: "Red Red Robin", Sultry Summers: "Summertime" (from Porgy & Bess), and"Autumn Leaves" to represent the Fall...
  • Rodgers & Hammerstein Chronology (Set One - Musicals through the 1940s): Starting with a prelude from each writer before they became a team, we will travel with short medleys through their musicals of the 1940s (many became movies in the 1950s).  The set includes songs from "Oklahoma", "Allegro", "Carousel", "State Fair", and "South Pacific"
  • "Celebrating Male Vocalists Through the Decades": A presentation about various male vocalists in chronological order from when each started their performing careers - Includes songs from Eddie Cantor, Louis Armstrong, Bing Crosby, Gene Austin, Elvis, The Beatles, and others...
